Hi friends! Hope you enjoy the video 🙂 I talk a bit fast in this one (was trying to squeeze a lot of tips in haha), so if you're having trouble understanding you can change the playback speed in the lower right corner of your screen. I'll try to slow down for future videos!
For anyone who's concerned about cooking food in aluminum, beets can be roasted without wrapping in anything and they turn out just as good! In fact I find them easier to peel when roasted naked
Do you not need to soak the black beans before cooking? Heard that only soaking water for a few hours breaks the indigestible bits down enough to be properly safe? Please correct me if I'm wrong, soaking is a pain!
If you like quick pickled onions you should try quick pickled red cabbage. Not the same as sauerkraut. Delicious and a different vibe than the onions. I love both though!
Please use at least a little bit of oil when frying the stuff, it makes a huge difference. Also oil is not so unhealthy that you should exclude it completely nor does it make you fat. Sugar is the real culprit, it causes a lot of healt problems and unneccesary weight gain. I hate how not enough people know this.
Trader Joes Super Firm Tofu is my favorite. I still use a press, one I got off amazon (Tofuture or something). But its even ok without a press. I have converted to only cooking tofu in the air fryer. Crispy, chewy, perfect. Not oily. I'll make this "chicken flavored" tofu, I think I got the idea from the vegan zombie's channel. Salt and pepper, just a little salt seems easy to make it too salty, garlic powder, paprika, and nooch. Then in the air fryer. I love it. My son loves it.
Thank you Caitlin! It’s gorgeous here in Boston and summer’s on the way. I watched your videos for the first time tonight. With your encouragement I’m jumping back on the vegan wagon. I love tofu of all stripes and veggies and beans. I’ve been too lazy to cook and eat really well for a while. Thanks for the kick in the butt!
